Vancouver Island GasTips is closed.
Apologies to all the good users who have submitted tips and continue to participate with maturity and a spirit of community contribution. Unfortunately, foolishness, immaturity, bickering and name-calling don't stop no matter how often accounts are banned. Not only does that behaviour impact the site, but dealing with it impacts myself and my family, without any benefit.
To put it purely in business terms, Vancouver Island GasTips costs much more than it makes, and always has. Other areas at least cover their own costs, trading the earnings from clicks on ads for the hundreds of dollars hosting this server costs each month. No area of GasTips makes enough to cover hosting costs as well as our efforts to maintain it, but when a section of the site doesn't cover hosting costs and takes more time than it is worth, even my desire to provide a place for an internet community, out of my own family time and pocket, fades rapidly.
I hope the good members of this site will understand that this is no slight on them or their efforts. It all comes down to nonproductive participants. For those good members, please take a look at our other websites and our clients' websites and I hope you find something useful there:
